How I Became Santa And Met Mrs. Claus

Santa Paul having fun in the Workshop

A long, long time ago – long before sleigh bells jingled or stockings hung by the chimney, there was a moment when the world felt a little dim. People were busy, tired, and sometimes forgot how bright kindness could shine.

And then something wonderful happened.

On a winter night, when the stars were sharp as diamonds and the snow lay like a soft white blanket, a great Light stirred in the heavens. It wasn’t a light you could see with your eyes – it was one you felt with your heart. It carried warmth, compassion, generosity, and joy. It was the Light that comes from the very Source of all goodness in the world.

That Light whispered across the sky:

“Let love be visible.”

Far to the North, in a land of shimmering ice and dancing auroras, the Light touched the heart of a simple, jolly soul – someone who had always delighted in helping, cheering, and giving. His laughter warmed the winter wind. His kindness soothed the coldest nights. And as that heavenly Light filled his heart, something magical happened:

Well! That’s the moment I became Santa.

My eyes began to sparkle with joy.
My heart stretched wide enough to hold every child, every family, every hope.
And I felt a calling – clear as a sleigh bell: spread the Light, share the love, and make goodness visible.

But I knew I couldn’t do it alone! Christmas magic is far too big for one fellow.

So the Light inspired many helpers:

Little elves with nimble hands and big hearts.
Reindeer brave enough to soar through midnight skies.
And the best helpers of all… people.
Every time someone smiled at a stranger, shared a toy, forgave a friend, or cared for someone who needed a little cheer – each act added a spark to the great Light of Christmas.

And that Light?
Oh, my friends, it still shines – in you.

Every time you choose kindness, Santa’s magic grows.
Every time you give from your heart, my sleigh flies a little higher.
Every time you love one another, the Light that started it all glows brighter than ever.

And that is how Santa’s mission began – with a calling:

To make God’s love visible
through every act of kindness,
every moment of giving,
and every spark of joy shared at Christmastime.

And, with my calling, I simply carry the Light as best I can, laughing warmly and giving freely, hoping that each person who meets Santa will feel even a flicker of that divine glow.

And on Christmas Eve, when the world grows hushed and the stars lean close, my sleigh rises into the sky – not powered by magic alone but by every generous heart that chooses love.

For whenever someone gives, forgives, shares, or cares…

Santa’s light shines brighter. And so does the Light of the One who sent it.

“He took a little child whom he placed among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them, “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.”

Mark 9:36-37

How Mrs. Claus and Santa Met

Now, you may be wondering about Mrs. Claus – how we met, married, and how she became such an important part of our work here at the North Pole.

When I first moved to the snowy North Pole to begin my work as Santa Claus, the land was quiet and untouched. I built a cozy little workshop with the help of the Elves. Although I was surrounded by cheer and toys, my heart felt a little lonely.

One winter’s evening, while delivering gifts to a small fishing village in Greenland, I heard the most beautiful singing drifting through the frosty air. Following the melody, I discovered a kindhearted woman named Elva singing with a choir who had arranged themselves on platforms in the shape of a Christmas tree! She was surrounded by children as she sang. Elva had warm eyes, a gentle laugh, and a love for children that matched my own.

I was so impressed by her kindness that I returned often to visit. And soon, Elva began visiting the North Pole. She baked cookies for the Elves, advised us on the creation of new and exciting toys, mended my red coat, and brought joy to everyone she met. The Elves adored her instantly, saying, “Santa has found his perfect partner!”

As the years passed, Elva and I grew inseparable. One Christmas Eve, after the reindeer returned from their long journey, I asked her to be my wife. Surrounded by Elves, reindeer, and a sky full of shimmering northern lights, she said yes. From then on, Elva became known to the world as Mrs. Claus, but to Santa, she has always been my dearest companion.

Merry Christmas to all of you—
and may your hearts shine bright with the Light that began this beautiful season.
