Planning a Great Santa Claus Visit
Bringing The Magic Of Christmas Into Your Home
Santa Paul works with each family prior to a home visit to discuss special requests and how a visit should proceed – whether storytelling, special traditions, gift giving, achievements of each child, photos, and more. Santa loves to see the wonder in a child’s eyes when he calls them by name and knows about special things in their life — their school, favorite teacher, best friends, or favorite activities.
During his visit, Santa Paul gives each child a cherished moment to share wishes and giggles with the big guy so that they feel the magic of Christmas and the North Pole – a memory that is forever planted in their hearts.
A Storytelling Santa
Santa Paul will lead children on a magical and enchanting journey into the world of Santa Claus and the North Pole as they explore incredible adventures of Christmas Eve, the antics of the reindeer, and life at Santa’s Village.
A classic tale like never before — one of the stories Santa Paul can tell is ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas, but with a surprise — Santa will transport you straight to the North Pole as he brings the enchanting story to life in his own words from Santa’s perspective.
Or, your children may like to hear a specific type of story such as those about the reindeer, the Workshop, or the Elves — including original stories written by Santa Paul such as Jasmine’s Incredible Christmas Adventure©, The Celestial Star Map©, or Santa and the Christmas Bear©. Alternatively, Santa Paul can read a story that is a cherished favorite of your family.
To keep little ones engaged, most stories are 5 to 10 minutes in length. Along the way, Santa Claus invites children into a story by asking questions that lead them to think about the lesson or moral of the story. In a typical 30 minute home visit, there is normally time for one story.
American Sign Language
Santa Paul has a basic proficiency in American Sign Language, allowing him to communicate with every child about life at the North Pole, his reindeer, and ensuring their wish list reaches the Elves. For children who haven’t had this opportunity before, their joy in chatting with Santa for the first time is a delightful experience.
Santa Paul has completed ASL 1 and 2. A member of the American Society for Deaf Children, Santa continues to improve his signing skills with ongoing coursework and fingerspelling receptive practice.
Santa would like to give a big jolly thank you to Tiny Hands Learning for helping him improve his signing skills. Their work has made Santa even better at spreading Christmas joy to every child.

Becoming Santa Claus
As a young child, Santa Paul was blessed with the most wonderful Christmases and loved how the world seemed to become a peaceful and magical place. It was not just about gifts but about all the preparations leading up to Christmas — the decorating of the tree and home, the marvelous smells of baking from the kitchen, and the many sleepless nights excitedly waiting for Christmas Eve and Santa to arrive. Santa Paul watched his father, one of Santa’s Official Helpers, put on a red suit and beard to visit less fortunate children – creating a special place in his heart for Christmas and giving.
Santa Paul has spent many years preparing to be Santa Claus while working with youth in the Asheville and Hendersonville area – coach for an Asheville-Buncombe Youth Basketball team, guiding Asheville High Junior Achievement students to navigate the world of business, making his cabinet shop available to local Girl Scout troops for woodworking projects (Santa ate WAY too many Thin Mints cookies), a volunteer working with special needs children in Asheville and Hendersonville, and using his truck with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul to deliver food, furniture, and toys to families in need.

The Top 5 Questions Children Ask Their Parents About Santa Claus
- “Is Santa Claus Real?” Santa is real in the hearts of people all over the world who believe in love, kindness, and generosity. Although we may not see Santa every day, the spirit of Santa is very real. It may take different forms but with every act of love, every moment of kindness, and each gift of generosity — the spirit of Santa and Christmas lives in each and everyone of us. So, the next time someone passes you on the street with a warm smile, a person volunteers to help those in need, or a friend takes time to just sit and visit — you can be sure that Santa and the Christmas spirit are alive and well!
- “How Does Santa deliver all the presents in one night?” Elven magic gives Santa the ability to travel at breathtaking speeds around the Earth (the Elves call it the “speed of magic” which is much faster than the speed of light). But, this magical speed has an interesting effect on time – the faster I go, the slower time moves for me. The Elves have understood this time effect for centuries. In the human world, it was hundreds of years later before a famous scientist named Einstein discovered this effect on time and gave it a name – time dilation. Just imagine if a minute for you is an hour for Santa, a day for you is a month for Santa, a year for you is a century for Santa, and so on. That’s exactly how time works for Santa Claus on this one very special night of the year. Even though Christmas Eve for you in the natural world is just like any other night — for Santa, time moves very slowly on Christmas Eve.
- How does Santa get into houses without chimneys?” Santa has a Magic Key that opens any lock in the world. The Magic Key only works on Christmas Eve. The key requires that there be at least one true believer in the house.
- “How does Santa know what I want?” When you write Santa letters, whisper your wishes, or even just think really hard about what you’d love, Santa hears it — especially when your heart is kind and grateful (of course, Santa also gets hints from parents). Letters from around the world arrive at the North Pole every day. Some are written with beautiful handwriting, some with big, bouncy letters, and some with a picture or even a scribble from tiny hands still learning to write. No matter how they look or what languare they are in, I can always read them. The ink seems to sparkle as Christmas magic tells me exactly what each child meant to say. And, when children don’t use words at all — maybe they’re too shy or their voices are too quiet – I still hear them. A Christmas wish doesn’t always have to be spoken. Sometimes, it’s in the way eyes shine when they see a Christmas tree or in the way a child hugs someone they love. All of those wishes reach me too!
- “How does Santa know if I’ve been naughty or nice?” Santa knows children aren’t perfect — no one is. We all have days where we are not at our best — including Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the Elves! I have a special ability to see through the eyes of the North Star – the shimmering light that floats high in the sky and watches over the world. This ability helps me to see the moments in a child’s day and to understand what’s in a little one’s heart. Santa pays more attention to how hard you try to do the right thing, how kind you are to others, and whether you learn from your mistakes. The little steps you take toward being better and being kind are what’s important. Every act of kindness is like a star in the sky — lighting up the path to Christmas morning.
