Before each home visit, Santa Paul takes time with families to learn what will make the experience truly special — from favorite traditions and Christmas wishes to storytelling, gift giving, celebrating achievements, and capturing treasured photos. Through thoughtful preparation, Santa brings a little of the North Pole into each family’s home.

Santa loves seeing the wonder in a child’s eyes when he calls them by name and knows the little things that make them unique — their school, favorite teacher, best friends, hobbies, and favorite activities. These personal touches help create a magical Christmas memory that feels as though Santa truly knows and cares about each child.

A Storytelling Santa

Santa Paul brings the magic of the North Pole to life through storytelling — leading children on imaginative journeys filled with Christmas Eve adventures, reindeer, elves, and the wonders of Santa’s Village.

A classic tale like never before — Santa Paul can share ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas from Santa’s own perspective, transporting children to the North Pole as the story unfolds through his eyes. 

Children may also enjoy stories about the reindeer, Santa’s Workshop, or the elves — including original stories written by Santa Paul such as Jasmine’s Incredible Christmas Adventure and The Celestial Star Map. Families may also choose to share a beloved Christmas story of their own for Santa to read.

To keep young listeners engaged, stories are typically 5-10 minutes long. Along the way, Santa invites children into the adventure by asking questions that encourage imagination, participation, and reflection. During a typical 30 minute home visit, there is usually time for one special story.

Sensory-Friendly Santa Home Visits 

American Sign Language

Santa Paul has studied American Sign Language to help welcome children who are Deaf or hard of hearing and to create a more inclusive Christmas experience. While not a fluent signer, Santa enjoys using ASL to help children feel comfortable, included, and connected during their visit with Santa.

Santa Paul has completed ASL 1 and 2 and is a member of the American Society for Deaf Children. Santa continues to improve his signing skills through ongoing coursework and fingerspelling practice.

Santa is grateful to Tiny Hands Learning for helping him grow in his ASL journey and for their dedication to making communication more accessible for children and families.

As a child, Santa Paul treasured the simple traditions that made Christmas special — decorating the tree and home, the wonderful smells of holiday baking, and the excitement of waiting for Christmas Eve and Santa’s arrival. Those cherished memories shaped his understanding that the true magic of Christmas is found not only in gifts, but in the moments families share together.

Today, Santa Paul strives to create those same feelings of warmth, wonder, and joy for the families he visits — helping children and adults experience the timeless magic that makes Christmas such a special season.

Experience Working With Children

Long before becoming Santa Paul, he spent many years working with children and families throughout the Asheville and Hendersonville area. His experiences have included coaching an Asheville-Buncombe Youth Basketball team, guiding Asheville High Junior Achievement students as they explored the world of business, and opening his cabinet shop to local Girl Scout troops for woodworking projects (Santa may have enjoyed a few too many Thin Mints along the way).

Santa Paul has also had the privilege of spending time with children and adults with special needs through the Irene Wortham Center and St. Gerard Center for Autism, as well as delivering food, furniture, and toys to families in need through the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. These experiences have strengthened his understanding of patience, compassion, and the importance of creating meaningful connections with every child and family he visits.

1. “Is Santa Claus Real?”  Santa is real in the hearts of people all over the world who believe in love, kindness, and generosity. Although we may not see Santa every day, the spirit of Santa is very real. It may take different forms but with every act of love, every moment of kindness, and each gift of generosity — the spirit of Santa and Christmas lives in each and everyone of us. So, the next time someone passes you on the street with a warm smile, a person volunteers to help those in need, or a friend takes time to just sit and visit —  you can be sure that Santa and the Christmas spirit are alive and well!   
2. “How Does Santa deliver all the presents in one night?”  Elven magic gives Santa the ability to travel at breathtaking speeds around the Earth (the Elves call it the “speed of magic” which is much faster than the speed of light). But, this magical speed has an interesting effect on time – the faster I go, the slower time moves for me. The Elves have understood this time effect for centuries. In the human world, it was hundreds of years later before a famous scientist named Einstein discovered this effect on time and gave it a name – time dilation. Just imagine if a minute for you is an hour for Santa, a day for you is a month for Santa, a year for you is a century for Santa, and so on. That’s exactly how time works for Santa Claus on this one very special night of the year. Even though Christmas Eve for you in the natural world is just like any other night — for Santa, time moves very slowly on Christmas Eve.
3. How does Santa get into houses without chimneys?”  Santa has a Magic Key that opens any lock in the world. The Magic Key only works on Christmas Eve. The key requires that there be at least one true believer in the house.
4. “How does Santa know what I want?”  When you write Santa letters, whisper your wishes, or even just think really hard about what you’d love, Santa hears it — especially when your heart is kind and grateful (of course, Santa also gets hints from parents). Letters from around the world arrive at the North Pole every day. No matter how they look or what languare they are in, I can always read them. The ink seems to sparkle as Christmas magic tells me exactly what each child meant to say.
