Santa, Why Do You Look Different Each Time I See You?

Santa, Why Do You Look Different Each Time I See You?

Santa Paul having fun in the WorkshopChildren sometimes notice something very important:  “Santa, you look a little different than the last Santa I saw.”

Santa doesn’t stay exactly the same all the time because Christmas itself doesn’t stay the same. Christmas is something that grows.

Early in the season, when the air has just turned cold and the lights are only beginning to appear, Christmas magic is still waking up. People are just starting to decorate, to sing, to think about others, and to remember what kindness feels like. During that time, Santa looks a bit more like an ordinary fellow – still jolly, still kind, but quietly preparing.

As the days pass and Christmas gets closer, something wonderful happens. Every act of kindness, every helping hand, every moment of generosity adds a little more magic to the world. Children begin to believe more deeply. Families gather. Traditions are remembered. That magic doesn’t just float around – it gathers.

And Santa feels it.

That growing Christmas magic changes me little by little. My smile grows warmer. My laugh grows fuller. My beard grows longer, seems whiter, and my eyes are brighter. It’s as if all the joy, hope, and love of the season are gently shaping me into the Santa children expect to see.

By the time Christmas Eve arrives, the magic is at its strongest. That’s when Santa looks the most magical of all because I am carrying with me all the love and belief of the season.

So when you notice that Santa looks a bit different each time, the truth is simple and beautiful:

Santa isn’t changing on his own.
I am changing because Christmas is getting closer. And every bit of kindness, wonder, and belief helps make me exactly the Santa I am meant to be.
